COUNSELING

Philosophy

We believe wholeheartedly in the importance of counseling, both for personal growth and for facing life’s difficulties. However, counseling cannot be truly effective without the solid foundation of a supportive and trusting relationship. Therefore, we believe in taking a holistic approach to counseling. This means we strive to nurture all facets of an individual, including their emotional, physical, relational and spiritual aspects.

We use a mixture of cognitive-behavioral, brief solution-focused, family systems theory and psychodynamic frameworks. Each situation is different and calls for a different approach. We believe in tailoring the approach to the needs of the situation and of the individual. There is no “one size fits all” solution for problems, and we strive to meet each and every individual’s needs.

Dr. Riddle’s graduate training is in both counseling and biblical studies. Since his counseling services may include providing support for clients’ values-oriented decisions, he wants to be up front that his core value system is Christian-based. He believes this framework enriches his work, but he never attempts to impose his personal beliefs upon his clients.
